Discover the cultural richness and natural beauty of Mexico through the Mayan Train – a journey like no other! This highly anticipated project promises to change the way we experience Mexico’s Mayan Zone, with its comprehensive 1,500 km route connecting five states – Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Campeche, Chiapas, and Tabasco – providing connectivity and quality services to both national and international tourists.

Along the route, you’ll find 19 stations, offering 62 tours that showcase the region’s diverse offerings, including 18 indigenous paradises, 28 rural communities, 14 magical towns, 46 archaeological sites, and 6 world heritage sites. A true all-inclusive adventure, the Mayan Train will provide a unique and unforgettable experience.

The route will be 1,500 km long, passing through 40 municipalities and 181 towns in the states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan, and Quintana Roo. There will be 42 trains with a total of 219 cars traveling in 7 sections, divided into Jungle, Caribbean, and Gulf areas. There will be 21 main stations and 14 stops along the way.

Discover 46 archaeological sites such as Chichén Itzá, Uxmal, Calakmul, Edzná, and Palenque, as well as 28 rural communities, 18 indigenous paradises, 14 magical towns, and 6 World Heritage Sites. An Indigenous Paradise is a distinctive seal from the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples for tourist destinations, mainly ecotourism centers, run and protected by local communities.

The Mayan Train plan will cover tourism services, local passengers, and cargo transportation, with different sections adapted accordingly. 31 of the 42 railcars will be used for passenger service, 8 for tourists, and 3 for long-distance travel, divided into three categories: Xiinbal (Walking) with panoramic windows and cafeteria, Janal (Eat) with seating configurations and restaurant with regional cuisine, and P’atal (Stay) with reclining seats, sleeping cabins, and private bathroom with shower.
